Snow Day

We had no school or work yesterday due to the snow. The kids have never seen this much snow before! They loved it and wanted to stay in it all day. We walked to Panera for hot chocolate mid-morning.

The kids and our neighbors had so much fun sledding down our street and the slope on the front yard. Sydney and Ethan made snowboards out of various materials, but they didn't withstand the snow. :-(

They haven't been skiing or snowboarding yet, but they sure are ready! This was especially fun as they've been watching the Olympics.  Jake just joined right in and did what everyone else did!

Everyone got a turn being pulled on our neighbor's sled to Panera.

Wacky Tacky Day

School had Spirit Week last week. It started with Wacky Tacky Day and ended with a big 100 Days of School celebration. Here are Sydney, Reid, and Ethan in their wackiest, tackiest clothes.

2013 Ardmore RAH!

The 2013 Ardmore RAH! raised $13,500, enough for the food bank to provide over 90, 000 meals to the hungry in northwest NC.
Jeff and Ethan ran the 5K; Sydney, Reid, and I did the fun run with Jake in the stroller.
Our company was a sponsor, and the daughter of one of our PTs won for the 12 and under girls 5K!
I love how our church body uses the gifts God has given us to put this on and how our community comes together to raise money for the hungry in Northwest NC. Our own city has so many that go hungry, especially children.

Shakespeare Festival

The Shakespeare Festival at school was Friday night. After the festivities, the middle schoolers performed The Merchant of Venice. Sydney's class recited Sonnet 116 for the queen before the play. The 2nd grade boys sold baskets of apples to everyone.

 Sydney dressed as a peasant.
The orange behind Reid isn't part of his costume :-)
School needed tents for the craft tables. I don't think our tent has ever looked so pretty!

 Jake had a sword too!
